Dr. Peter Linneman
CEO & Founder
Dr. Peter Linneman was the Founding Chairman of Wharton’s Real Estate Department, Director of the prestigious Zell-Lurie Real Estate Center, and spent 35 years as a leading member of Wharton’s faculty, serving as the Albert Sussman Professor of Real Estate, Finance and Public Policy. Peter has published over 100 scholarly articles, four editions of the acclaimed book Real Estate Finance and Investments: Risks and Opportunities, and the widely read Linneman Letter quarterly report. He received both his Masters and Doctorate in Economics under the tutelage of Nobel Prize winners Milton Friedman, Gary Becker, George Stigler, Ted Schultz and Jim Heckman.
Peter's business career is highlighted by his roles as Founding Principal of Linneman Associates, a leading real estate advisory firm; CEO of American Land Fund; and CEO of KL Realty. For more than 35 years, he has advised leading corporations and served on over 20 public and private boards, including serving as Chairman of Rockefeller Center Properties, where he led the successful restructuring and sale of Rockefeller Center in the mid-1990s.
Although retired from Wharton's faculty, Dr. Linneman continues his commitment to education through his Save A Mind, Give A Choice educational charity for orphans and children of extreme poverty in rural Kenya. He has been married for over 40 years and is an exercise enthusiast.
Bella Schinkal is a Senior Design and Construction Manager with the Amazon Global Real Estate Team (GREF). Bella earned her degree in Business, and while supporting her husband and two children, graduated with honors before starting her role at CBRE.
She has over 15 years of experience managing projects in commercial Real Estate. Currently, Bella oversees the Post-Occupancy Projects program at Amazon. Her team manages over 3,500 projects annually in 185 buildings, comprising approximately 24 million square feet. The team is known for their ability to be nimble and creative in a constantly changing environment.
In her free time, she enjoys working out and has recently become addicted to her Peloton bike. With travel being one of her passions, Bella cannot wait to get back to Cuba to visit her extended family soon. She also loves spending weekends with her family and her dog Sancho.
Head of Occupier Research
Julie Whelan is the Head of Occupier Research for the Americas at CBRE. Based in Boston, Julie works closely with key CBRE leadership to provide insightful and timely analysis to help clients make informed real estate decisions. She works towards identifying trends that will impact office occupiers across industries in the U.S., Canada, and Latin America. These trends and subsequent insight are presented via thought leadership pieces for CBRE professionals and clients.
Ms. Whelan has more than 10 years of experience in real estate market analysis and consulting. Prior to joining CBRE, she was the Vice President of Global Realty Services for State Street Corporation. She managed a team that was responsible for analyzing the strategic and financial impacts associated with real estate decisions globally at State Street. She has built her career on analyzing facts and figures that influence the C-suite on matters related to real estate in large institutions.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree from Providence College and a Masters, in Business Administration from Suffolk University. Ms. Whelan also completed the Commercial Real Estate Program at Boston University.

Suzanne has been Editor of the Portland Business Journal since 2014. As Editor, she oversees the newsroom, guiding all news operations. She joined the Portland Business Journal in July 2010 as digital managing editor responsible for assigning, editing, and writing online daily news content. Prior to the Business Journal, she spent seven years as a senior editor at The Deal in New York, where she wrote and hosted a Web program focused on corporate mergers and acquisitions. Stevens also spent time as an associate editor at Oregon Business Magazine and worked for 12 years in public radio, where she was a frequent contributor to National Public Radio. A native of Louisville, KY, she is self-defined as someone with a bit of “wanderlust” who loves to travel. Suzanne has lived in places as varied as Louisville, Charlotte, and New York.
McKinsey & Company
Ryan Luby is an Expert with the McKinsey Global Institute (MGI), McKinsey & Company’s business and economic research arm. Based in New York City, Ryan leads McKinsey’s US labor market modeling, with an emphasis on recessionary dynamics, long-term implications of labor-market shocks, and impacts at the state and local levels. He works closely with clients across the real estate value chain, including developers, occupiers, service providers, and disruptors. In addition, he serves a broader set of corporate clients, investors, and public-sector players evaluating the implications of economic downturns across all time horizons.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Trinity University and PhD in Political Science from Columbia University, where his dissertation explored the fiscal and labor-market policy responses to the 2008 financial crisis in the US and Europe.
